Gerald Zahn

Gerald Zahn (1971) arbeitet in Wien als Medien- und Video Künstler.

Sein Interesse gilt der Dekonstruktion von Alltagsphänomenen und den Wirkungsweisen der Unterhaltungsindustrie. Die medienübergreifenden Arbeiten, die der Künstler gerne in Form von abstrakten Sammlungen präsentiert, fokussieren auf das Aufspüren von versteckten, jedoch allgegenwärtigen Normen.

In vielen seiner Filme und Video-Installationen entschleunigt Gerald Zahn den Erzählstrang durch die Verwendung von statischen Fotos anstelle herkömmlichen Filmmaterials. Das Geschehen reduziert er, ohne schnelle Bildschnitte zu verwenden, häufig auf eine oder wenige statische Einstellungen und Tableaus.
